The Management Committee Chairman of Jos South Local Government Council, Hon. Dachung Yohanna Choji said his council has spent about 10,000,000 (Ten million Naira) on the purchased of Covid-19 palliatives for the vulnerable.
Hon. Choji disclosed this to journalists shortly after flaging-off the distribution of food items to the Chairman of the Committee, His Royal Highness, the Gwom Rwei of Jos South, Da Dangyang, held at the local government secretariat, in Jos South Local Government Council, Plateau State.
The chairman also said, those saddled with the responsibilities of disbursing the palliatives are going to present feedbacks after the whole exercise, and which he believe they are going to do their best.
"I am sure those in charge of the disbursement will do a good job" he said.
When asked if his council had received any form of palliatives from the state government, Hon. Dachung Yohanna Choji said Jos South and other Local Government Councils in the state are yet to receive.
He added, "I think the state government want to do it logically, from one Local government to the other, and I believe it is going to get to each local government area".
Items purchased and delivered to the Gwom Rwei for onward delivery to the vulnerable includes, 200 bags of rice, 150 bags of beans, 150 bags of garri. Others are, 100 bags of millet,100 bags of maize and 100 bags of sugar.
